Finding time to exercise my body – as well as my “pipes’ on a daily basis can sometimes be a challenge.
Some days I just get carried away! Auditions are going well… Or better yet, I’m recording a job for a client… and time just gets away from me. My goal is to hit the gym for at least an hour 5 or 6 times a week… but some days, just end up getting away from me.
So, here’s my solution: After getting a good read on an audition or section of text, before I start editing, I’ll hop out of the studio and do a set of 15 pushups. I like push ups, but you can do squats, sit ups, planks, wall sits (ooh! That’s an idea!)… anything to get out of the chair and moving… Then, I jump back in and edit.
I lay down the next track and go through the same routine. As noted, my *break* of choice right now, is pushups, so on any given day whether I make it to the gym or not, I end up doing anywhere from 100 – 150 pushups! So, I never feel guilty about spending too much time in the booth… And, I have better energy and focus on every read!
